There are so many opportunities available to us right now to shift out of our discontents and to create the things we say we want in our lives. But how often do we come up with stories to explain away why those opportunities aren’t available to us, specifically?
We say we are being ‘realistic’. What a misused word!
It’s a cop-out!
Have you ever heard yourself say things like: “I’m being realistic! I don’t have the money!”, or “The reality is, I don’t have the time.”
We all have the same amount of time. Everyone has 24 hours in a day. Those people who we label as successful have the same amount of time available to them as we do.
We cannot control time, but we certainly can manage our priorities within that time.
And I would challenge you to say that you don’t have money. Look around you. Look at all the material things you surround yourself with. Money paid for those things, so you certainly have access to it. So, now it’s really about being honest with regards to what you are choosing to spend your money on.
We can get so caught up in our own paradigms. OK, those paradigms, those habits of believing and thinking, may have been plugged into our brains from the time we were born however, they are just thoughts that can be changed – if we choose to change them. Otherwise, they will remain convenient beliefs that we use to keep us comfortably discontented with our lives.
We can choose what to spend our time and money on.
It’s time to get honest with ourselves about what we truly want. Really want. Absolutely desire.
Is it building an investment portfolio? Or is it having the latest fad phone?
Is it going back to school to get that degree? Or is it wanting to sit in front of the TV every night because we are tired?
Is it losing 5 kilos? Or is it wanting to sleep until 7am each morning rather than exercising?
Is it getting a job? Or is it wanting to not interrupt our comfortable routine?
We make decisions every day about how we spend each moment and how we spend each dollar.
Your choices are reflected in how you are living your life, right now. All the beliefs you’ve held and the decisions you’ve made have led you exactly to where you are today. Are you happy with those results?
If you want a different result, then get clear on what your priorities are and start allocating your time and money to those.
It’s not about time or money. It’s about priorities.
Spot on Vera!
