Have you ever watched the show, Comedians in Cars Drinking Coffee? It’s a show where Jerry Seinefeld interviews other comedians whilst driving around in classic cars and going out for coffee.
Seth Rogan – actor, writer, producer and director – was Jerry’s guest on the show I watched last night and he said something that really struck a chord with me.
“I thought I wanted to be a comedian until I saw someone who really wanted to be a comedian.”
Hmm.
That statement highlighted to me how we often fool ourselves believing that we really want something, but then do absolutely nothing to go after it.
But I really do want to lose weight!
But I really do want to save more!
But I really do want to be healthy!
But I really do want to get a better job!
Really?
If you say you really want something but are finding that you aren’t getting it, take a look around you and see the people who are getting it.
They are the ones who make changes to their routines. They are the ones who take steps in the direction of their dreams.
They are the ones who really want it.
So it’s time to get honest with yourself. Either you want something or you don’t. And if you don’t, that’s ok. But stop saying you do when you have absolutely no intention of changing your current routine because, let’s face it, the results you are experiencing in your life right now are a direct reflection on the actions and the routines you have implemented up until now.
Do you really want different results? If you really want it, and I mean really want it, it’s going to take more than simply saying so. It’s going to take some action on your part.
The universe rewards action!
