Have you ever watched dolphins surfing ocean waves? They dive in and out of the water, gliding along with the pull of the waves. There’s no struggle and no pushing.
Dolphins live in flow.
We all can.
But the truth is that most of us don’t.
Unlike dolphins, human beings seem to believe we have to strive, to push and to make things happen.
The pushing, the striving and the “making it happen” can take a great amount of force. And, of course, we can make things happen. But there’s an easy way to do it and there’s a hard way to do it.
Pushing and striving is the hard way. Tapping into our intuition, letting go of expectations and accepting life as it is right now is the easy way.
I have a favourite saying when faced with a challenging situation –
“It is what it is.”
It’s a statement of acceptance.
Now, that acceptance does not indicate that I want to simply give up and stay stuck in that challenging situation. It’s simply the acceptance of the situation being what it is.
For me, it’s like drawing a line in the sand and saying “Enough!” On one side of that line is denial and frustration. On the other side is a fresh start.
That acceptance is a release of all the negative energy associated with that challenge. It’s a release from the fight. When I stop fighting the situation, I can get on with finding the solution. Letting go of denial and frustration allows me to get in tune with my intuition, it opens me up to all the possible steps I can take, and it brings about a burst of natural, flowing energy.
And that’s the big difference. The negative fight energy versus the energy of empowerment and flow.
So how do we know if we are trying to make things happen or if we are in flow? Well, using energy to fight something leaves us feeling depleted. Living in flow leaves us feeling energised.
One takes energy, the other has the energy taking us.
