No matter where we are in our journey of expansion and growth, there is always room for amplifying our gratitude practice.
How? A simple way is to change the language we use around our everyday activities.
Instead of saying “I have to get up, go to work, clean the house, etc.” try using:
“I get to get up.”
“I get to go to work.”
“I get to clean the house.”
Why?
Because it shifts the energy from one of grumbling and complaining to one of appreciation and gratitude.
You see, there are people who didn’t get to wake today. Their time here on earth ended overnight. You got to wake up. Are you grateful for having another day?
There are people who would love to step into the job you have right now. You are the one who has that job. It provides you with income and enables you to pay your bills. Are you appreciative of what that income and job enable you to have in your life?
And don’t forget, there are people who don’t have a place to call home. You have one. Are you grateful for, and appreciate, the roof over your head.
As Melody Beattie says:
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, and confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”
