Various studies have been done which have shown that a person’s income level is aligned to the average income of their 5 closest associations – the people they spend most time with.
As the saying goes:
Birds of a feather flock together.
So if you aren’t seeing the results you want in your life, have a look at your flock.
Who are the people you associate with most? Are these people on a journey of expansion and growth, or are you surrounding yourself with people who consistently find things to grumble and complain about, or have a myriad of excuses as to why life is so tough on them?
Listen to any motivational speaker and they will often share their stories of early hardships, then determining that they want to create a shift in their lives, and so they start to read more, attend conferences, and start networking with people who seem to be getting the results that they, themselves, want.
And it makes sense.
If you want to live a certain way, start surrounding yourself with others who already live that way.
This doesn’t mean completely cutting all ties with people who are in the ‘grumbling and complaining’ group. More often than not, these people will be your closest family members or life-long friends. You don’t have to completely disassociate from them. But you can certainly limit your exposure to their negativity, and at the same time, start broadening your own network.
And don’t forget, you may be the one who exposes them to the possibilities of living a different way and getting different results.
Of course this isn’t simply about money. The key factor is the thinking that has created the financial outcome. And it’s that shared thinking, values and behaviours that create results across all life domains – financial, health, spiritual, relationships, career and social.
If the results within the group align, it means their thinking is aligned.
Does that level of thinking support the expansion you are seeking for your life? If not, consider broadening your network and – on purpose – seek out people who are experiencing the results you want so that you can align your thinking with theirs.
You’ll be amazed at what you will learn and what you will then see created in your life.
