Tuning into your intuition

We all have an intuition.  Sometimes we call it our sixth sense, gut feeling, instinct, or the still, small voice.

Regardless of how we label it, our intuition is our internal guidance system and the better we become at paying attention to it, the better our decision making becomes.

It’s more than simply an ‘emotional feeling’.  It’s deeper.

It’s an inner knowing and this knowing is something that our logical, rational minds can’t get to.

I’m sure you’ve had the experience where you thought of someone and a moment later they are calling you on the phone.  Or perhaps you’ve met someone new and just sensed that there was something ‘not quite right’ about them.  That’s your intuition speaking to you.

Our rational minds are based on intellect, which gathers information from the outside, physical world.  But our intuition, this comes from a much deeper part of us that knows far more than our logical minds can ever know or understand.

What’s interesting is that most of us choose to refer to our logical, rational minds above our intuition.  That’s not to say that our rational minds are to be ignored!  Absolutely not.  Our rational minds are an incredible tool that enable us to function every single day.

The thing is, we need both.  We need both the rational thinking to manage the practicalities of living in this physical world, and we need the intuitive guidance to help us maneuver through the unseen opportunities and obstacles that our rational minds simply can’t perceive.

Our intuition continually provides us with prompts to guide and direct us.  Turn left when you normally go straight.  Go and introduce yourself to that person you see at the conference rather than standing with people you know. Pick up the phone and call your friend now rather instead of deciding that it’s their turn to call you.

That source that we can only tap into through our intuition is always, without question, setting us on the best path possible for our lives.  It’s that internal guidance system that sets our direction. Then, the rational mind can step in and do what it needs to move us along.
