We are half way through this first month of this new year – Happy New Year.
Now, my question to you is, what kind of year will you be creating?
You see, most people don’t consciously make a decision as to what kind of year they will have. They may say that this year is going to be better – but without articulating what ‘better’ actually means. Or perhaps they simply say that they hope this will be a better year and then just sit back and wait to see what the year will bring.
Hoping for something better is great, but hope without action or without a clear destination won’t bring you any close to ‘better’.
Or, in the case of where you do sit back to see what the year brings, well, you will still be getting a year of results, but they will simply be ‘default’ results. That is, the things you get to do, the people you get to be with, the experiences you have, etc. they will be in the hands of other people or events and circumstances. What does better mean to you?
We all want each year to be better than the last. It’s only natural. But ‘better’ can mean so many different things to different people.
What are the things that you want to do or to experience? Who are the people you want to be with?
The clearer you are about what you want these next 12 months to look like, the greater the chance that you will get the outcomes you want. Knowing what you are targeting helps you make a judgement call about each decision you need to make. Each day, you can assess what you have planned. Will that be something that supports your goal or is it something that doesn’t?
So, now’s the time spend some time alone and think about what you want for your life to make this a happy new year, a better new year? Write those things down and place them somewhere visible to you. Somewhere that will remind you of the year you are creating each and every day. It might be on your fridge or your bathroom mirror. That vision you have for this year needs to be somewhere that will keep it front of mind. That way, you can plan each day to align with the outcomes you want.
